NEXT SHOW:

APRIL 24, 2024

AUSET SARNO, NICK GUSMAN, MAUREEN SULLIVAN, and SETH PORTER

Let's learn a little about the performers for this month's Songbird concert taking place on Wednesday, April 24th. All of these performers are mainstays in the St. Louis local music scene.

Maureen Sullivan has been one of the principal singers and songwriters in the Red-Headed Strangers for a long time now. She's also done stints in a number of side projects including, most notably, the Trio Project. She was also named best vocalist in 2009 by the Riverfront Times. Maureen Sullivan is making her Songbird debut. Here is a song performed by the Red-Headed Strangers for Lo-Fi St. Louis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23tZQkvYwrQ

Seth Porter first reached local music prominence with the Blind Eyes and followed that up with his band, Essential Knots. Throw in some interesting diversions like recording a Christmas music original song duet with Beth Bombara and being named best songwriter by the Riverfront Times in 2013 and you have the makings for an exciting Songbird debut by the man who knows his way around a pop song as well as anybody in St. Louis. Here is a song performed by Essential Knots for Lo-Fi St. Louis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZjA5UCNeAw

Auset Sarno is no stranger to the Focal Point. Her annual birthday shows are almost always sold out. She fronts the Auset Music Project and also is one of the key singers and songwriters in BAJA and the extended version of Rough Shop. She has a treasure trove of gems yet to be recorded. You can see her most recent birthday show from Focal Point at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYtRwAZhHXw The whole concert is a great listen but make sure you go to the 1:15:00 mark to hear a beautiful song of hers called "Waterloo." Another gorgeous original by the Auset Music Project performed for Lo-Fi St. Louis can be heard at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wf4cwbhMNwo

Nick Gusman is a singer-songwriter who shines equally when fronting Nick Gusman & the Coyotes or when performing solo. Steve Leftridge of the Riverfront Times does a fantastic job delving into the songwriting skills of Nick Gusman in this recent March article at https://www.riverfronttimes.com/.../nick-gusmans-smart... Sill need convincing? I think not but do yourself a favor and give this solo song performance a listen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBgoYrw_yNw
